Twenty years ago, one stubborn recipe and a market stall started something. This is the story of the little Canberra muesli that refused to be boring — and the people who make it by hand, every single week.

The story behind RAD

It started with one good bowl.

Back in 2004, Dave Noble couldn’t find a muesli he actually wanted to eat. Everything on the shelf was either dusty and joyless or drowning in sugar. So he did the obvious thing: he made his own — real oats, four kinds of nuts, 33% rolled barley, and absolutely no shortcuts.

He took it to the Canberra farmers markets on a Saturday morning. It sold out. Then it sold out again. Word travelled the way good things do — one happy bowl at a time — until RAD was shipping across the country to people who’d never set foot in Canberra.

Two decades on, we still handcraft every batch the same stubborn way. Bigger kitchen, same recipe, same rule: possibly the greatest muesli ever made, or it doesn’t leave the building.

Is RAD Muesli really handmade?

Yes — every batch is handcrafted in our Canberra kitchen. We’ve scaled the kitchen over 20 years, but never the shortcuts. Same recipe, same hands-on process.

Is it gluten-free?

RAD contains rolled oats and barley, so it is not gluten-free. It’s made in a kitchen that handles tree nuts and gluten — please check the ingredients panel if you have an allergy.

How long does it stay fresh?

Because we pack to order, your muesli arrives fresh. Stored in an airtight container somewhere cool and dry, a bag stays at its best for several months — though it rarely lasts that long.

Do you ship Australia-wide?

We do — anywhere in Australia. Shipping is a flat $9.95, and it’s free on orders over $60. Orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days.

Can I buy at the markets instead?

Absolutely — that’s where it all began. Find us Saturdays at EPIC and Sundays at Southside. Come say g’day and grab a bag straight from Dave.
